Senior Systems Administrator ( IT )

The Senior Systems Administrator manages enterprise IT infrastructure and contributes to technology modernisation across a hospital environment. The role maintains server, identity, cloud, endpoint, virtualisation, storage and backup services to support secure and resilient operations. It also works on upgrades and migrations, improves monitoring and automation, documents systems and coordinates with vendors and internal teams on infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer Windows and Linux servers, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, patching, monitoring and troubleshooting.
• Maintain Microsoft 365 services including Entra ID, Intune, Exchange Online and SharePoint Online, as well as hybrid identity and Azure services.
• Apply security controls such as MFA, conditional access, endpoint protection, device compliance and privileged access management.
• Manage server, storage, virtualisation, VDI, network and voice infrastructure to maintain availability and performance.
• Operate backup, replication and disaster-recovery services, conduct DR testing and support capacity planning.
• Use scripting and automation to improve operations, remediate vulnerabilities and support technology refresh, cloud migration and AI infrastructure initiatives.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT, computer science, engineering or an equivalent discipline.
• Eight or more years of enterprise IT infrastructure experience.
• Hands-on experience with Windows/Linux, Microsoft 365, identity platforms, backup and recovery, virtualisation and infrastructure security.
• Experience with Azure, PowerShell, automation, cybersecurity and AI/ML infrastructure is highly desirable; willingness to participate in 24/7 on-call support is required when needed.

Skills and Working Approach

The role needs broad technical depth, structured troubleshooting, secure configuration practices and the ability to document infrastructure clearly. Strong coordination with users, vendors and project teams is important, along with a focus on availability, disaster recovery and continual improvement.
