Staff Nurse PICU

University Hospital Sharjah is looking for a Staff Nurse to provide specialized nursing care within the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. The role requires careful assessment of critically ill pediatric patients, individualized care planning, close monitoring and effective collaboration with physicians and multidisciplinary teams. The nurse will support procedures, administer prescribed treatment, educate families and maintain a safe clinical environment while following hospital, regulatory and patient-safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess pediatric patients and develop, implement and evaluate individualized PICU nursing care plans.
• Prioritize care according to clinical needs and delegate appropriate activities within professional scope.
• Provide nursing interventions based on treatment plans, clinical knowledge and evidence-based practice.
• Assist physicians during examinations, procedures and other patient-care activities.
• Administer prescribed medications safely, including controlled medicines where authorized.
• Monitor patient condition closely and communicate changes promptly to the responsible clinical team.
• Document assessments, interventions and patient responses accurately from admission through discharge.
• Provide age-appropriate support and documented education to children and their families.
• Maintain infection-control practices, international patient-safety goals and emergency procedures.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and advocate for the needs, comfort and dignity of patients.
• Maintain equipment and clinical supplies and report faults or safety concerns immediately.
• Participate in quality improvement, education, training and professional development activities.

Requirements

• BSc Nursing or Diploma in Nursing from an accredited institution with a minimum three-year study duration.
• Minimum 2 years of post-graduation experience with at least 1 year in the current specialty.
• Valid BLS certification.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification is desirable.
• Current nursing license and ability to meet applicable UAE licensing requirements.
• Fluent written and spoken English; Arabic is an advantage.
• Computer literacy, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
