Staff Nurse MedSurg

University Hospital Sharjah is hiring a Staff Nurse for its Medical-Surgical services. The role is responsible for delivering comprehensive nursing care, monitoring patient progress, supporting treatment plans and maintaining high standards of safety, quality and professional practice. The nurse will assess individual needs, coordinate care with physicians and other disciplines, provide patient education and maintain accurate records throughout the patient's hospital stay.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess patients and develop, implement and evaluate individualized nursing care plans.
• Prioritize patient needs and delegate appropriate duties to junior and auxiliary team members.
• Provide nursing interventions based on current evidence and the patient's treatment plan.
• Assist physicians with examinations, procedures and direct patient-care activities.
• Administer prescribed medications safely and follow controlled-medication procedures within scope.
• Monitor patient conditions and promptly report significant changes to the appropriate clinical staff.
• Maintain complete and accurate nursing documentation from admission through discharge.
• Educate patients and families about care requirements and support continuity of treatment.
• Maintain infection prevention measures and follow patient-safety and emergency procedures.
• Work with multidisciplinary teams and advocate for patient needs, comfort and privacy.
• Maintain equipment, unit supplies and crash-cart stock and report faults promptly.
• Participate in quality improvement, training, meetings and continuing professional development.

Requirements

• BSc Nursing or Diploma in Nursing from an accredited institution with at least three years of study.
• Minimum 2 years of post-graduation nursing experience, including at least 1 year in the relevant specialty.
• Current nursing license in the country of origin.
• UAE Ministry of Health license as required.
• Valid BLS certification; Advanced Life Support is desirable.
• Good English communication skills; Arabic is an advantage.
• Computer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel.
