Staff Nurse ICU/HDU/LTCU

University Hospital Sharjah is seeking an experienced Staff Nurse to provide high-quality nursing care across ICU, HDU and LTCU services. The position requires strong clinical judgment, close patient monitoring and the ability to coordinate care for patients with complex needs. The nurse will plan and evaluate individualized care, support medical procedures, administer treatment safely and work collaboratively with physicians and multidisciplinary teams while maintaining strict patient-safety and infection-control standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess patient conditions and develop, implement and evaluate individualized critical-care plans.
• Prioritize clinical needs and delegate appropriate activities to junior and auxiliary nursing staff.
• Deliver nursing interventions based on patient condition, treatment plans and current evidence-based practice.
• Assist physicians with examinations, procedures and other direct-care interventions.
• Administer prescribed medication safely and follow controlled-medication requirements within scope.
• Closely monitor patients and promptly escalate changes or deterioration to the appropriate clinical team.
• Maintain accurate documentation throughout admission, treatment and discharge.
• Provide patient and family education appropriate to the patient's condition and care plan.
• Maintain infection prevention, emergency response and international patient-safety practices.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary professionals and act as a patient advocate.
• Maintain equipment, consumables and crash-cart readiness and report malfunctions promptly.
• Participate in quality improvement, mandatory training, unit meetings and continuing education.

Requirements

• BSc Nursing or Diploma in Nursing from an accredited institution with a minimum three-year study duration.
• Minimum 2 years of post-graduation experience with at least 1 year in the current specialty.
• Valid BLS certification.
• Advanced Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support are desirable.
• Current nursing license in the country of origin and required UAE licensing.
• Good English communication and computer skills, including Word and Excel.
• Ability to work effectively in a diverse, multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
