Description

The pricing specialist supports commercial decisions by analysing cost, margin, market and customer information and turning it into clear pricing recommendations. The role works closely with sales, finance and operations to maintain pricing accuracy, respond to requests and help the business make informed decisions while protecting profitability. This position is part of commercial pricing and sales support and contributes to reliable, professional day-to-day delivery. The successful candidate will follow established procedures, maintain accurate information and work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve agreed standards.

Key Responsibilities

The main responsibilities include the following:

  • Prepare pricing calculations, quotations and supporting analyses using agreed commercial assumptions and cost inputs.
  • Review historical prices, margins, volumes and market information to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Validate data received from sales and operations, following up on missing inputs or unusual variances.
  • Maintain pricing files, approval records, calculation tools and regular management reports.
  • Support sales teams with timely responses to pricing requests and explain the commercial rationale behind recommendations.

A practical understanding of the function, sound prioritisation and timely escalation will help protect quality, safety, cost and customer commitments.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • A degree in finance, economics, accounting, mathematics or a related discipline is relevant.
  • Five or more years of pricing, finance or commercial analysis experience is a useful benchmark for this role.
  • Strong spreadsheet skills, including advanced Excel; automation or VBA knowledge is an advantage.
  • Candidates should be comfortable handling detailed financial data and working to tight deadlines.

Candidates should show relevant experience, learn local procedures quickly and meet any required statutory or professional standards.

Skills and Competencies

Analytical thinking, numerical accuracy, business judgement, stakeholder management and clear presentation of findings are essential. The ability to convert complex figures into practical options for non-technical colleagues will be particularly valuable.
