Description

The Ramp Agent supports aircraft turnaround by moving baggage and cargo between aircraft, trolleys and designated airport areas. At Level 3, the role also provides on-the-job guidance to colleagues, reinforces operating procedures and helps maintain equipment competency. All tasks must be carried out in line with airport safety and security rules, airline requirements and the agent’s current training and licences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transport baggage and cargo to and from designated locations as directed by the turnaround coordinator.
  • Load and unload baggage and freight from unit load devices and trolleys when required, using approved manual-handling techniques.
  • Operate only ground equipment for which current training, authorisation and licence requirements have been completed.
  • Help less experienced team members understand safe work practices and correct operating procedures on assigned flights.
  • Maintain recurrent equipment licensing and report unsafe conditions, equipment defects and operational hazards promptly.
  • Complete required safety observations and cooperate with supervisors to keep aircraft turnaround activities on schedule.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Relevant equipment licences under the applicable airport training and licensing matrix.
  • Previous aviation or airport operations experience is preferred, along with a valid driving licence.
  • Good spoken and written English; the required English language test is Level 4 with at least 60%.
  • Ability to work outdoors, manage physical tasks and follow strict controls around moving vehicles and aircraft.

Skills and Working Approach

The role requires teamwork, initiative, motivation, situational awareness and the ability to manage conflict or changing priorities under tight turnaround deadlines. Candidates should understand ramp hazards, communicate clearly with colleagues and never operate equipment beyond their current authorisation.
