Registered Midwife

Job Overview

NMC Healthcare is seeking a qualified Registered Midwife to provide safe, compassionate and evidence-based care to women and newborns across the antenatal, intrapartum, postnatal and newborn periods. The role involves supporting normal and assisted births, monitoring maternal and fetal wellbeing, coordinating care with obstetricians and other healthcare professionals, and ensuring that patients and families receive clear education and emotional support. The successful candidate will practice within the applicable regulatory scope, clinical competencies and hospital policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide professional midwifery care to women and newborns across different clinical settings.
• Support women throughout pregnancy, labour, delivery and the postnatal period while respecting individual birth plans.
• Monitor labour progress, perform CTG monitoring and recognize abnormal fetal heart-rate patterns requiring escalation.
• Support spontaneous vaginal deliveries and assist with instrumental and elective or emergency caesarean deliveries as permitted by scope and privileging.
• Assist obstetricians with procedures such as artificial rupture of membranes and sterile vaginal examinations when authorized.
• Provide immediate post-delivery care, including vital-sign monitoring, fundal assessment, placental examination and blood-loss assessment.
• Perform initial newborn assessments, identification, vital-sign monitoring and appropriate escalation to neonatal specialists.
• Administer prescribed medications, IV fluids and blood products safely and monitor for adverse reactions.
• Develop, implement and evaluate individualized care plans with the multidisciplinary team.
• Educate mothers and families on breastfeeding, skin-to-skin bonding, newborn care and relevant health conditions.
• Provide compassionate support during pregnancy loss, stillbirth, neonatal death and other difficult clinical situations.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with regulatory, infection-control, patient-safety and professional standards.

Requirements

• Appropriate qualification and valid license to practice as a registered nurse/midwife under the relevant UAE healthcare regulator.
• Valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support Provider certification.
• Current clinical competence in midwifery practice and obstetric emergency management.
• Knowledge of CTG, neonatal resuscitation and essential life-support practices appropriate to the role.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with patients, families, physicians, nurses and allied health professionals.
• Good written and spoken English.
• Willingness to work across departments when operationally required.
