Neonatologist

Job Overview

NMC Healthcare is seeking a Neonatologist to provide professional, ethical and high-quality care to newborn patients, including infants requiring specialized neonatal intensive care. The role includes clinical assessment and reassessment, NICU and nursery rounds, management of complex neonatal conditions, attendance at difficult deliveries and caesarean sections, emergency on-call coverage, consultation and multidisciplinary coordination. The physician will also contribute to clinical quality, education, guideline development and continuous professional improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive neonatology services in accordance with professional, ethical and regulatory standards.
• Assess and reassess newborn patients and develop appropriate diagnostic and treatment plans.
• Conduct daily rounds in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and nursery and perform examinations and procedures within the scope of practice.
• Order and interpret laboratory and radiological investigations and establish appropriate diagnoses.
• Prescribe medications and advise nursing and dietary teams regarding neonatal care.
• Provide inpatient care for newborns and attend difficult deliveries and caesarean-section deliveries when required.
• Provide specialist consultation and referral support to other inpatient services.
• Coordinate patient care from initial consultation through treatment and follow-up.
• Provide on-call coverage for neonatal emergencies according to the duty roster.
• Monitor clinical indicators and participate in quality-assurance and improvement initiatives.
• Keep current with developments in neonatal techniques, procedures, medications and therapies.
• Participate in clinical guidelines, protocols, CME, teaching, conferences and departmental activities.
• Maintain accurate medical records and document care, education and information provided to patients and families.
• Follow applicable Department of Health, accreditation, quality, occupational-safety and hospital policies.

Requirements

• Recognized medical degree and appropriate specialist qualification in Neonatology.
• Eligibility or valid licensure under the relevant UAE healthcare regulatory authority.
• Clinical experience appropriate to the Neonatologist role, particularly in NICU and newborn care.
• Ability to manage neonatal emergencies and provide care during complex deliveries.
• Strong clinical documentation, communication and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.
• Commitment to quality assurance, continuous professional development and evidence-based practice.
