Child And Adolescent Psychiatrist

Job Overview

NMC Healthcare is seeking a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to assess, diagnose and manage mental health conditions affecting infants, children and adolescents. The role combines clinical assessment, treatment planning, medication management, psychotherapy, family support and multidisciplinary collaboration. The successful physician will help young patients and their families navigate complex behavioral and psychiatric conditions while maintaining strong standards of patient safety, confidentiality, clinical documentation and ethical practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments and diagnostic evaluations for children and adolescents.
• Diagnose and manage conditions including ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, anxiety, depression, OCD, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, behavioral disorders and tic disorders.
• Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical assessment and patient needs.
• Prescribe, monitor and adjust psychiatric medications when clinically appropriate.
• Provide psychotherapy, behavioral interventions and family counseling as part of integrated care.
• Educate parents and caregivers about diagnoses, treatment options, prognosis and ongoing support.
• Collaborate with pediatricians, psychologists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, social workers, nurses and other professionals.
• Assess and manage psychiatric emergencies, including suicidal ideation, self-harm, aggression and psychosis, in accordance with clinical protocols.
• Maintain accurate medical records and ensure timely clinical documentation.
• Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences and quality-improvement activities.
• Support continuing medical education, teaching and research activities where applicable.

Requirements

• MBBS or equivalent recognized medical degree.
• Completed residency training in Psychiatry.
• Fellowship or board certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
• Valid UAE medical license or eligibility for licensure through the applicable authority.
• Minimum 3–5 years of post-specialty clinical experience depending on Specialist or Consultant level.
• Strong diagnostic, clinical decision-making and risk-assessment skills.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to build rapport with children, adolescents and families.
• Knowledge of child development and developmental disorders.
• Professionalism, empathy, cultural sensitivity and strong multidisciplinary teamwork.
