Description
The Technician supports the availability and safe operation of equipment by carrying out inspections, maintenance and repairs as assigned. The role involves responding to faults, assisting with planned maintenance and ensuring tools and spare parts are used responsibly. Clear reporting and careful adherence to safety procedures help the wider engineering team minimise downtime and maintain operational continuity. The successful applicant should be organised, dependable and committed to following operating procedures while helping the team deliver reliable results.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine checks, servicing and maintenance tasks according to approved schedules and instructions.
- Respond to equipment faults, perform initial troubleshooting and assist with safe, timely repairs.
- Use tools, equipment and spare parts correctly and report shortages or damaged items to the supervisor.
- Record completed maintenance, fault details, parts used and follow-up actions in the required format.
- Keep work areas orderly and follow applicable safety, quality and equipment-isolation procedures.
- Assist engineers and senior technicians with inspections, repairs and planned maintenance activities.
- Report recurring defects and potential equipment risks so they can be investigated before causing further disruption.
Requirements
- Practical technical ability and a willingness to perform hands-on maintenance and repair work.
- Attention to safety instructions, equipment condition and accurate maintenance records.
- Ability to identify basic faults, follow technical guidance and seek assistance when required.
- Reliable teamwork, communication and organisation in an operational environment.
Qualifications and Skills
- Relevant technical training, trade education or hands-on experience is appropriate for this position.
