Gastroenterologist

Job Overview

NMC Healthcare is hiring an experienced Gastroenterologist to deliver high-quality clinical services for patients with gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary and liver disorders. The role combines consultation, diagnosis, treatment planning, follow-up and diagnostic or therapeutic endoscopic procedures. The physician will manage complex cases, coordinate care with other specialties, maintain high standards of patient safety and documentation, and contribute to clinical governance and continuous quality improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose and manage patients presenting with gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary and liver conditions.
• Conduct comprehensive consultations and develop individualized treatment and follow-up plans.
• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including gastroscopy and colonoscopy, within approved scope of practice.
• Manage complex gastroenterology cases and coordinate multidisciplinary care where required.
• Monitor treatment outcomes and identify clinical risks or opportunities for improvement.
• Maintain complete, accurate and timely medical records and clinical reports.
• Explain diagnoses, treatment options and follow-up requirements clearly to patients and their families.
• Participate in clinical audits, peer review, departmental meetings and quality-improvement initiatives.
• Support the development of junior physicians and other healthcare professionals where appropriate.
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies, professional ethics, clinical guidelines and applicable UAE regulations.
• Maintain ongoing professional development and remain current with developments in gastroenterology and endoscopy.

Requirements

• Recognized medical degree and valid eligibility to practice as a medical practitioner.
• Recognized higher qualification in Gastroenterology, such as an accepted fellowship or diploma.
• Specialty certification and registration recognized by the relevant UAE healthcare authority.
• Minimum 3–5 years of post-qualification experience at Consultant level, as stated in the vacancy.
• At least 1 year of Consultant-level experience in a Tier 1 country as defined by the relevant UAE regulator.
• Demonstrated experience managing complex gastroenterology cases and performing relevant endoscopic procedures.
• Valid life-support certification such as BLS, ACLS or an applicable equivalent.
• Strong communication, documentation, teamwork and clinical decision-making skills.
