Description
University Hospital Sharjah is seeking a qualified Staff Nurse to support the Female General Ward and provide safe, compassionate, patient-focused nursing care. The position involves assessing individual patient needs, developing and implementing nursing care plans, monitoring progress, and coordinating care with physicians and the wider multidisciplinary team. The nurse will work within professional standards while maintaining patient dignity, privacy, safety and confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, deliver and evaluate nursing care for patients in the Obstetrics and Gynecology setting.
- Monitor patient conditions, identify changes and promptly communicate concerns to the appropriate clinical team.
- Administer prescribed medications safely and support examinations, procedures and other direct-care activities within scope of practice.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation from admission through discharge.
- Provide appropriate health education to patients and families based on individual care plans.
- Apply infection prevention, patient safety and emergency procedures consistently.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary colleagues and advocate for patient needs.
- Support junior and auxiliary team members through appropriate delegation and guidance.
- Maintain clinical equipment, unit supplies and crash-cart readiness according to hospital procedures.
- Participate in quality improvement activities, training, meetings and professional development.
Requirements
- BSc Nursing or Diploma in Nursing from an accredited institution with a minimum three-year study duration.
- At least 2 years of post-graduation nursing experience, including 1 year in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
- Current nursing license in the country of origin.
- UAE Ministry of Health license or eligibility to obtain it within the required period.
- Valid BLS certification; NRP is desirable.
- Good written and spoken English; Arabic is an advantage.
- Computer literacy, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
