Nurse Unit Manager – Operating Theatre Complex, Mediclinic Airport Road Hospital

The Unit Manager leads nursing services within the assigned clinical area, supporting safe evidence-based care, effective staffing and a positive patient experience. The post combines clinical leadership with resource planning, team development, quality assurance and operational management. The manager works with medical colleagues and hospital leadership to maintain professional standards and continuously improve care delivery. Lead the operating-theatre nursing team, oversee safe perioperative care and manage resources and staff development.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, support and guide the nursing team to deliver consistent, evidence-based care in line with clinical standards and regulations.
• Plan staffing, allocate responsibilities and monitor service coverage, workload and staff performance.
• Oversee patient safety, clinical risk management, quality indicators, incident follow-up and improvement actions.
• Manage clinical and non-clinical resources responsibly, including stock, equipment and operational requirements.
• Coach staff, support learning and competency development, and contribute to a culture of communication and accountability.
• Prepare the theatre environment, support safe perioperative workflow and follow infection-prevention standards.

Requirements and Qualifications

• A recognised nursing degree and a valid professional licence appropriate to the UAE are expected for nursing leadership roles.
• Substantial nursing experience in the relevant specialty is important; prior leadership or unit-management experience is strongly relevant.
• Required life-support certificates should be current for the clinical area.
