Aircraft Mechanic – Machinist (Workshops)

Qatar Airways is recruiting an Aircraft Mechanic – Machinist for its Doha workshops. The role uses precision machining equipment to support aircraft-component repair and fabrication, following approved engineering instructions and workshop safety rules. It requires technical accuracy, the ability to interpret drawings and maintenance manuals, and disciplined work within specified tolerances and production schedules.

All work must remain within approved instructions and assigned authority. Accurate records, tool control, safe work practices and early escalation of defects help protect airworthiness, component traceability and workshop quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate CNC milling machines, CNC lathes and vertical drilling machines in a maintenance or component-manufacturing environment.
• Use drilling, boring and honing machines, appropriate fixtures and standard machining tools.
• Carry out manual CNC programming and apply a basic understanding of Siemens NX where required.
• Read and interpret aircraft maintenance manuals, component manuals, structural repair manuals and engineering drawings.
• Follow manufacturing instructions, airworthiness requirements and approved safety procedures.
• Inspect finished work, report discrepancies and maintain accurate workshop records.

Requirements

• High school, vocational qualification or diploma with at least 3 years of job-related experience, or a bachelor’s degree with at least 2 years.
• Aircraft-maintenance diploma, licence or equivalent technical training is relevant; a basic ICAO Type II licence and trade certificates are listed for the role.
• Practical experience in machining, tooling, fixtures and a similar technical workshop is important.
• Candidates should be able to interpret drawings and follow strict manufacturing and airworthiness instructions.
