Description
The Multi-Skilled Technician supports facilities operations by maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing building systems. The role may cover HVAC, electrical and mechanical equipment, with the objective of keeping systems safe, serviceable and dependable. The technician responds to maintenance tasks, carries out planned servicing and reports defects so that buildings can continue operating with minimal disruption.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete assigned preventive and corrective maintenance on building equipment and systems.
- Inspect HVAC, electrical and mechanical components for visible damage or poor performance.
- Troubleshoot routine faults and carry out repairs within the limits of trade competence.
- Assist with equipment testing and confirm operation after maintenance work.
- Follow work orders and maintenance schedules and keep task status information accurate.
- Use tools, testing devices and protective equipment correctly.
- Maintain clean work areas and handle materials safely.
- Escalate complex or recurring faults to the supervisor and record work completed.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Practical knowledge of more than one facilities-maintenance trade is beneficial.
- Ability to troubleshoot routine HVAC, electrical or mechanical issues.
- Awareness of preventive maintenance procedures and site safety practices.
- Good communication, teamwork and time-management skills.
- Ability to follow work instructions and record maintenance activity accurately.
Skills and Competencies
The role values a flexible technical approach, problem-solving, safe tool handling and dependable completion of assigned tasks. Candidates should be ready to collaborate with other trades and support both planned maintenance and day-to-day service requests.
