Cardiovascular Technician

Supports diagnostic and therapeutic procedures used to investigate and treat heart and vascular conditions. Working under physician direction, the Cardiovascular Technician prepares patients, operates monitoring equipment and assists with procedures in a controlled clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for cardiovascular examinations and explain the basic steps.
• Set up and operate assigned haemodynamic or electrophysiology equipment.
• Assist physicians during diagnostic or invasive procedures and maintain supplies.
• Support imaging and monitoring, including fluoroscopy where authorised and trained.
• Observe patients during procedures and alert the clinical team to changes.
• Record procedure details, maintain equipment logs and report maintenance needs.
• Restock consumables and keep the clinical environment clean and ready.

Requirements and Qualifications

A recognised qualification in cardiovascular technology, cardiac technology or a related clinical technical discipline is appropriate. Practical familiarity with cardiovascular equipment and the ability to work under physician direction are important. Any required professional registration or radiation-safety training must be current.
