Description
The Field Service Engineer - Centrifugal Compressor provides on-site technical support for the installation, commissioning, start-up, inspection, and maintenance of centrifugal compressor systems. The engineer coordinates work at customer facilities, supports technicians and craft personnel, and checks equipment alignment and condition. The role is important to safe, reliable operation and timely delivery of service commitments for energy and industrial customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical guidance during installation, commissioning, start-up, and maintenance of company-supplied centrifugal compressors.
- Inspect delivered compressors and auxiliaries, coordinate unloading and placement, and verify foundations, skids, levelling, and alignment.
- Perform planned inspections, assembly, disassembly, and adjustment of compressor components and supporting systems.
- Assess bearings, couplings, seals, diaphragms, and other mechanical components for wear, damage, and required corrective work.
- Prepare work plans, equipment requirements, and instructions for site crews and customer representatives.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues, document findings, and communicate technical recommendations and service progress.
- Ensure field work follows applicable quality, safety, environmental, and customer-site procedures.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Relevant mechanical engineering or technical education and practical knowledge of rotating equipment.
- Experience with compressor installation, commissioning, maintenance, or industrial field service is valuable.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings, inspect dimensions, and follow engineering and maintenance procedures.
- Willingness to work at customer sites and coordinate closely with service crews and customer contacts.
- Commitment to safe work practices, accurate records, and professional customer service.
