Description
The Engineering Senior Specialist - Customer Application Engineering translates customer requirements into competitive technical proposals for energy equipment and systems. Acting as a technical interface between customers, sales, commercial teams, and engineering functions, the specialist develops solution configurations, reviews technical risks, and supports proposal discussions. The role requires sound engineering judgement and the ability to balance technical performance, customer needs, and commercial objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Review customer enquiries and requests for quotation to understand operating conditions, technical requirements, and constraints.
- Develop technical strategies and propose equipment configurations that fit the application and meet customer expectations.
- Coordinate with engineering, sales, commercial operations, product teams, and supporting functions during proposal preparation.
- Prepare accurate technical offers and related budget inputs within required deadlines and approved procedures.
- Evaluate deviations, non-standard requests, competition, and technical risks, escalating issues where necessary.
- Lead or support technical discussions with customers and explain solution options, assumptions, and configuration decisions.
- Support handover of awarded technical contracts to execution teams and share customer feedback for future improvements.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, chemical, or another relevant engineering discipline.
- Experience in application engineering, engineering, product management, technical sales, or customer service for industrial equipment is relevant.
- Ability to interpret technical specifications and turn customer requirements into clear engineered solutions.
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills for customer and cross-functional discussions.
- Commercial awareness, structured analysis, and willingness to coordinate with global teams and customers.
