Description
DAMAC Properties is seeking a senior mechanical engineering professional to lead the design, coordination and delivery of mechanical systems for hyperscale and enterprise data centre projects in Dubai. The role extends from concept design and engineering planning to detailed design, construction, testing, commissioning and operational handover. It focuses on developing reliable, efficient and sustainable cooling and building services infrastructure for mission-critical facilities.
The Senior Manager will guide internal engineering teams and coordinate external consultants, specialist suppliers and contractors. The position is important to the delivery of resilient cooling systems, the improvement of energy performance, value engineering and the preparation of designs that can be safely and efficiently constructed and maintained.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical engineering design and develop execution plans, technical strategies and standards for data centre projects.
- Coordinate HVAC, chilled water, cooling towers, heat exchangers, CRAH/CRAC units, ventilation, plumbing and fire protection systems.
- Assess and develop mission-critical cooling solutions, including direct-to-chip liquid cooling and, where suitable, immersion cooling.
- Coordinate mechanical interfaces with architectural, structural, civil, electrical, ICT, ELV, security and specialist systems.
- Review design deliverables, technical submissions, equipment specifications, vendor offers and shop drawings.
- Monitor consultants and project milestones, conduct design audits and constructability reviews, and resolve RFIs, technical queries and site design issues.
- Support factory and site acceptance testing, commissioning, integrated systems testing and project handover.
- Identify engineering risks, improve energy efficiency and maintainability, support decarbonisation initiatives, and mentor mechanical engineering staff.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering; a master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Project Management is preferred.
- At least 15 years of mechanical design and project delivery experience, including 7-10 years leading teams on hyperscale, mission-critical or large infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience delivering complex data centre projects from concept through commissioning.
- Strong knowledge of chilled water, direct-to-chip liquid cooling, CRAH/CRAC, HVAC, cooling towers, heat exchangers, ventilation, plumbing and fire protection.
- Knowledge of ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA, IPC, IMC, CIBSE standards and local authority requirements.
- Strong technical, leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
