Senior Manager – Shariah Consultation

Emirates Islamic is seeking a Senior Manager for Shariah Consultation to provide specialist guidance on products, services, contracts and business initiatives. The role supports Shariah governance by reviewing structures and processes, advising internal stakeholders, researching emerging issues and helping ensure the bank’s activities align with applicable Shariah principles and regulatory expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Review new and existing products, services, contracts and business initiatives to assess alignment with Shariah principles and committee directives.
• Advise business and support teams on Shariah matters, product structures and applicable UAE Central Bank or other regulatory requirements.
• Contribute to the development, review and implementation of Shariah governance frameworks, procedures and internal guidance.
• Assess legal agreements, marketing materials and operational processes from a Shariah perspective, identifying matters requiring clarification or correction.
• Research emerging Islamic finance issues and support Shariah audits, compliance reviews and regulatory examinations.
• Communicate recommendations clearly, coordinate with relevant stakeholders and promote consistent application of Shariah requirements across the bank.

Requirements and Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in Shariah, Islamic Jurisprudence, Islamic Finance, Law or a related discipline; a relevant master’s degree is preferred.
• At least eight years of experience in Islamic banking, Shariah advisory or Shariah compliance.
• Advanced knowledge of AAOIFI standards, IIFM, IFSB guidance and Higher Shariah Authority resolutions.
• Professional certification in Islamic Banking and Finance is an advantage, alongside sound judgement and high integrity.

Skills and Competencies

• Deep understanding of Islamic finance principles, Shariah governance, product structuring and risk assessment.
• Strong leadership, research, stakeholder-management and written communication capabilities.
• Ability to interpret technical standards, explain implications to non-specialists and maintain rigorous professional independence.
