Technician Mechanical Maintenance -Power

This technician role supports mechanical maintenance for simple and combined-cycle power-generation blocks and balance-of-plant equipment. The position is responsible for maintenance repairs and services on mechanical machinery and equipment with the objective of maintaining efficient operation and reducing production downtime. The role requires hands-on exposure to major power-generation and utility equipment, including gas and steam turbines, waste heat boilers, thermal desalination and balance-of-plant systems, together with the ability to work safely in demanding industrial conditions and as part of a shift team.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical maintenance, repairs and services on machinery and equipment supporting power-generation blocks and balance-of-plant systems.
• Support maintenance work intended to improve equipment availability and reduce production downtime.
• Carry out hands-on maintenance activities involving gas turbines, steam turbines, waste heat boilers, thermal desalination and other balance-of-plant equipment.
• Work with compressors, pumps, cooling towers and reverse-osmosis plant equipment as required by the maintenance scope.
• Use mechanical maintenance tools and computer systems relevant to the work.
• Follow supervisor direction and established plant procedures while working in a multicultural and shift-based environment.
• Maintain strong attention to safety in areas that may involve high-pressure steam, high voltage, arc flash, high magnetic fields, noise, fumes, heat, humidity, dust, heights and industrial liquids or chemicals.
• Work cooperatively with maintenance teams and communicate technical information in English.

Requirements

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a craft/trade certificate or equivalent qualification.
• Diploma holders require 5 years of experience in a similar position in a thermal power plant.
• Craft or trade certificate holders require 8 years of mechanical maintenance experience.
• Hands-on experience with GE Frame 9E/9FA gas turbines, steam turbines, waste heat boilers, thermal desalination and other BOP equipment overhauls.
• Familiarity with mechanical maintenance tools and computer literacy.
• Good English reading, writing and speaking ability.
• Interpersonal skills, assertiveness, teamwork, self-motivation and willingness to work shifts.
