Material Planner

ABB is recruiting a Material Planner for its Electrification business in the UAE. This on-site role is based in Dubai and reports to the Local Sales Operations Manager. The position is responsible for end-to-end inventory planning, from purchase requisition through purchase order and customer invoicing, including the management of sales in excess of invoicing. The planner will help ensure that suitable stock levels are maintained, internal customer enquiries are supported and material is replenished in line with operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Define inventory policies according to product segmentation and business requirements.
• Calculate and maintain key planning parameters, including safety stock, reorder points, lot sizes, supplier lead times and replenishment methods.
• Maintain accurate planning data in the relevant planning systems and enterprise resource planning platforms.
• Coordinate material planning and call-offs to ensure purchase requisitions are converted into purchase orders.
• Work with operations buyers and service teams to align material availability with customer and business needs.
• Collaborate with suppliers and purchasing colleagues to improve on-time delivery, minimum order quantities, quality, lead times and flexibility.
• Support internal customer service requests and contribute to consistent inventory planning practices.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Approximately 7 to 10 years of relevant material planning, inventory planning or supply chain experience.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in Supply Chain, Inventory Planning, Logistics or a related discipline.
• APICS certification is preferred.
• Good understanding of inventory management, demand planning, Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) and Material Requirements Planning (MRP).
• Experience with SAP APO is preferred.

Skills and Employment Details

The ideal candidate is process-oriented, accurate, analytical and able to work independently while collaborating with buyers and service teams. Strong communication and presentation skills are important, along with business awareness and confidence working with data. Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI or a comparable business intelligence tool will be an advantage. This is a full-time, on-site position in Dubai, UAE. Salary and closing date were not specified.
