The role is hands-on, with responsibility for guiding a junior team member and coordinating consultants, projects, procurement, facilities and retail stakeholders to deliver practical store environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess site surveys and plan space for new or renovated stores, balancing floor area, customer flow, operational requirements and sales contribution.
- Prepare schematic and developed design plans, translate business requirements into workable concepts, and maintain consistent architecture, fixture and prototype standards.
- Plan project CAPEX, prepare and review Bills of Quantities, research materials and control design decisions against approved budgets and maintenance needs.
- Own design documentation from survey to handover, maintain drawings during construction, manage version control and communicate approved design changes.
- Coordinate consultants and authorities on permits, accessibility, fire and life safety, MEP matters and site issues; track deadlines and coach a direct report.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Have at least seven years in architecture or interior design, including four years or more in retail store design and build.
- Demonstrate delivery of new stores and renovations from initial survey through handover, including CAPEX planning and BOQ preparation.
- Bring experience managing permits and authority approvals for mall, high-street or standalone retail locations.
- Be proficient in AutoCAD, SketchUp and Excel for drawings, cost plans and project tracking; knowledge of Revit/BIM, Adobe Creative Suite and MEP coordination is advantageous.
- Apply sound spatial judgement, commercial awareness, planning discipline and clear visual and verbal communication across several projects.
