HVAC Technician, Facilities

The HVAC Technician maintains and repairs heating, ventilation and air-conditioning equipment to support safe, comfortable and reliable facilities. The role includes scheduled preventive maintenance, inspection, fault diagnosis, repair and service documentation. A strong technician works systematically, follows safety controls and helps minimise downtime by identifying the cause of equipment problems rather than addressing only the immediate symptom.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect HVAC units, ventilation systems, thermostats, filters, pumps and related mechanical equipment.
• Carry out planned maintenance, cleaning, adjustments and authorised repairs in line with service schedules.
• Diagnose faults using appropriate tools and readings, replace defective parts and test equipment after repair.
• Respond to maintenance requests, prioritise urgent issues and communicate expected service times to relevant teams.
• Record work completed, parts used, readings and follow-up recommendations in maintenance logs or systems.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Have practical training or experience in HVAC, refrigeration, mechanical maintenance or a related technical field.
• Understand basic electrical and mechanical safety, equipment isolation and safe use of tools.
• Be able to interpret technical instructions, identify faults and work methodically under time constraints.
• Follow site procedures, use required personal protective equipment and escalate major or unsafe conditions.

Skills and Competencies

• HVAC troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, tool handling, service records and fault reporting.
• Safety awareness, reliability, teamwork, practical reasoning and attention to detail.

Employment Details

The position may require work in plant rooms, service areas and operational facilities, as well as shifts or urgent call-outs based on site needs. The technician should maintain clean work areas and coordinate with other maintenance disciplines.
