Description

The EEG Technician performs electroencephalogram examinations to record brain electrical activity and support neurological assessment. This locum position prepares patients, applies electrodes, operates and checks EEG equipment, maintains accurate recordings and assists clinicians with technical information. Patient reassurance, infection prevention and reliable documentation are important throughout the examination process, particularly when monitoring a patient who may experience a clinical event.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and specialised EEG examinations according to physician orders and established clinical procedures.
  • Explain the procedure, confirm patient identity and prepare the patient for recording with correctly placed electrodes.
  • Operate, calibrate and troubleshoot EEG equipment to support clear and reliable recordings.
  • Monitor the patient during the procedure and respond appropriately to observed clinical events, including seizure activity.
  • Document examination details and observations, and share relevant technical information with physicians or neurologists.
  • Clean and disinfect equipment, perform routine checks, report faults and maintain confidentiality and infection-control standards.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in EEG technology, neurophysiology, electroneurodiagnostic technology or a related healthcare field.
  • DHA eligibility or an active DHA licence is mandatory, along with any applicable professional registration.
  • Previous EEG work in a hospital or neurodiagnostic setting is preferred; knowledge of electrodes, patient monitoring and basic neurophysiology is important.
  • Because the assignment is temporary for approximately three months, candidates must already hold their own valid UAE residence, sponsor, Golden or spouse visa.

Skills and Working Approach

The role requires technical accuracy, a calm patient-centred manner, attention to detail and effective coordination with neurologists, physicians, nurses and other staff. Candidates should explain procedures clearly, safeguard patient information and follow the limits of their training and scope.

Employment Details

Temporary locum assignment in Dubai for approximately three months. The role requires existing UAE visa sponsorship or residency arrangements and compliance with applicable licensing, patient-safety and infection-prevention requirements.
