About the Job

An opportunity has arisen for a Junior Sommelier to join the New French Concept team at Jumeirah Al Qasr.

The main duties and responsibilities of this role include:

  • Monitor and manage wine stock, ensuring proper rotation and storage while minimising wastage from opened bottles.
  • Support service by recommending suitable wines, refilling glasses, and taking new wine orders during service.
  • Prepare mise en place, keep wine cabinets clean and organised, and ensure opened bottles are correctly labelled.
  • Communicate updates regarding wine availability and recommend changes to wine lists when required.
  • Participate in daily briefings, share feedback, and assist team members as required.
  • Participate in training sessions and wine tastings and contribute to developing the team's wine knowledge.
  • Assist with wine inventories, report stock variances, and complete assigned tasks within required deadlines.
  • Maintain wine chillers at the correct temperatures and ensure temperature records are accurately maintained.

About You

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following experience and qualifications:

  • 1 to 2 years of experience in a similar role with a strong Food and Beverage background in a 5-star luxury property or standalone/branded restaurant.
  • Proficiency in English and a second language. Knowledge of European languages is desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products, Micros, and SevenRooms.
  • Strong wine knowledge with a WSET certification.
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment.
