Ophthalmology Subspecialist (LOCUM)

Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare (JHAH) is recruiting an Ophthalmology Subspecialist on a locum basis in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. The role provides comprehensive ophthalmological assessment and treatment for eligible patients and their dependents, covering medical and surgical eye conditions. The specialist will perform diagnostic examinations, outpatient procedures, elective and emergency surgery, and laser treatments while collaborating with other physicians and healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive eye examinations, assess findings and determine appropriate treatment plans.
• Diagnose and manage medical and surgical ophthalmic conditions using appropriate clinical investigations and procedures.
• Perform elective and emergency ophthalmic surgery within approved professional scope and privileges.
• Provide outpatient special procedures and apply YAG and Argon laser therapies as clinically appropriate.
• Explain diagnoses, treatment options, expected outcomes and potential complications to patients and families.
• Maintain accurate, timely and confidential patient records, including diagnosis, treatment and follow-up information.
• Provide on-call coverage for urgent and emergency ophthalmology cases according to the applicable schedule.
• Consult and coordinate with other physicians and specialists and refer patients when additional expertise is required.
• Participate in clinical conferences and discussions involving complex ophthalmic cases.

Requirements

• Graduation from an approved medical school with a recognized internship.
• Board certification by the American Board, Canadian Royal College or equivalent.
• Two years of fellowship training and recognized ophthalmology board certification through SCFHS/JHAH requirements.
• At least three years of ophthalmology practice after board certification, with demonstrated expertise.
• Valid license to practice medicine.
• Excellent written and spoken English and the ability to work effectively in a group medical environment.
