Technician – Electrical

The Technician - Electrical performs preventive and corrective maintenance across electrical installations and building services. The work includes low-voltage distribution networks, main and sub-main boards, distribution boards, motor control centres, control panels, lighting, emergency lighting, power outlets, switches, and related accessories. The technician inspects equipment, identifies safety risks, carries out approved repairs and testing, and records work accurately to support reliable facility operations and reduce repeat breakdowns.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance of LV distribution networks, MDBs, SMDBs, DBs, MCCs, control panels, and power circuits.
• Inspect and repair lighting, emergency lighting, outlets, isolators, switches, and associated electrical accessories.
• Perform planned inspections and periodic equipment testing to identify deterioration, defects, and potential electrical hazards.
• Diagnose faults affecting power distribution, lighting, control systems, and electrical equipment and implement safe corrective actions.
• Complete work orders, record parts used, report repeat faults, and coordinate with supervisors on unresolved technical issues.
• Follow isolation, PPE, permit-to-work, and site safety requirements during all maintenance tasks.

Requirements

• Practical electrical maintenance experience and a sound understanding of common building electrical systems.
• Ability to use hand tools and testing instruments safely and to follow approved technical procedures.
• Ability to read basic electrical drawings and carry out systematic fault-finding.
• Good housekeeping, communication, and work-order documentation habits.

Qualifications and Skills

• Strong troubleshooting and repair skills for low-voltage equipment and accessories.
• Understanding of preventive maintenance, equipment condition checks, and electrical safety controls.
• Ability to prioritise service requests and support urgent breakdown response.
• Reliable teamwork with mechanical, civil, HVAC, and facilities-management colleagues.

This full-time facilities role is in the UAE and may require work across building plant rooms, service areas, and occupied premises. Candidates should be ready to follow planned schedules, respond to reported faults, and complete maintenance with minimal disruption to occupants.
