Fitter

The Fitter supports fabrication and assembly by preparing, fitting and installing aluminium panels and components to drawings and specifications. Accurate measuring, safe tool use and consistent inspection of finished products are essential. The role may also include guiding assistant fitters and helpers on the factory floor.

Key Responsibilities

• Read drawings and specifications before cutting, fixing, assembling or installing aluminium panels.
• Use tools and machinery, including plasma, CNC and water-jet equipment, as required.
• Inspect finished panels and products for dimensions, quality and accuracy, and identify defective parts.
• Repair, replace or reassemble faulty components and report issues affecting the finished product.
• Support junior team members, follow HSE rules, wear required PPE and communicate workplace hazards.

Requirements and Qualifications

Applicants should have a Secondary School Certificate, an apprenticeship in a similar industry and at least three years of fitting-trade experience. Candidates should be familiar with tool handling, machinery and workplace safety procedures. The stated education or training requirement is: Secondary School Certificate and apprenticeship in a similar industry. The stated experience requirement is At least 3 years in the fitting trade.

Work Approach

Check measurements before making cuts or permanent fixes. Confirm that equipment is suitable for the task, follow approved operating instructions and report any tool or material fault before continuing.

Success is measured by accurate fabrication, reliable assembly, minimal rework and compliance with safety standards. Keep the work area organized, coordinate with production colleagues and raise concerns when drawings, materials or finished parts do not meet requirements.
