Description

The Power Technician Instrument Maintenance role supports reliable operation of field instrumentation used across gas turbines, steam turbines, waste heat boilers, desalination facilities and related auxiliaries. The technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repair, recommissioning and maintenance work, responding to breakdowns and planned activities with limited supervision, selecting appropriate tools, managing spares through the computerized maintenance system and maintaining accurate work records. The position also requires strong safety awareness and the ability to work under operational pressure, including shift and breakdown-callout duties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend field-instrumentation breakdowns and planned maintenance activities across power and desalination plant areas.
  • Assess assigned work technically and select the tools, equipment and spare parts required to complete maintenance safely and effectively.
  • Use the computerized maintenance system to request warehouse spares and maintain records of completed maintenance work.
  • Troubleshoot, repair and recommission instrumentation serving gas turbines, steam turbines, waste heat boilers, desalination plants and auxiliaries.
  • Carry out maintenance and calibration activities while following plant safety procedures and operational requirements.
  • Report repeated breakdowns and assist root-cause-failure analysis to help identify effective solutions.
  • Provide on-the-job guidance to new craftsmen to support planned maintenance and repair capability.
  • Work under time and technical pressure where errors can affect equipment, production availability or personnel safety.
  • Be available for shift duties and breakdown response when required by plant operations.

Requirements

  • Higher Secondary qualification or Diploma.
  • Previous experience working in a power or desalination plant.
  • Familiarity with maintenance tools and strong knowledge of plant safety.
  • Exposure to pressure, temperature, level and flow measuring devices.
  • Experience or exposure to pneumatic and hydraulic valve actuation systems.
  • Exposure to CO2 fire-protection and infrared gas-detection systems is relevant.
  • Ability to work under operational and technical pressure and support shift-based maintenance requirements.
