Sous Chef

The Sous Chef helps lead kitchen production from preparation through final presentation, ensuring work is completed to standard recipes and required timelines. Key Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate food preparation tasks to meet production schedules and service requirements.
• Assign duties, support kitchen colleagues and monitor progress throughout the shift.
• Ensure dishes follow approved recipes, portion sizes and presentation specifications.
• Maintain safe food handling, appropriate storage, date marking and clean work areas.
• Check ingredient availability and communicate stock or equipment issues early.
• Support training and reinforce kitchen procedures so working methods remain consistent.
• Monitor waste and quality issues, taking corrective action or informing senior chefs as appropriate.

Requirements

• Professional kitchen experience and sound food preparation skills.
• Working knowledge of food hygiene, recipe execution and kitchen safety.
• Ability to organise tasks, assist colleagues and maintain standards under pressure.
• A reliable and cost-conscious approach to ingredients, portioning and waste reduction.

Qualifications and Skills
