Description
The Laundry Attendant supports the hotel’s linen and garment-care operation by sorting, processing and handling laundry items according to established procedures. The role helps ensure clean, well-presented linen is available to hotel departments and that items are handled with care. Safe equipment operation, attention to fabric instructions and an organised work area are important.
Key Responsibilities
- Sort linen and garments by type, colour, fabric and required treatment.
- Operate washing, drying, pressing and finishing equipment according to training and procedures.
- Check items for stains, damage or missing pieces and report issues to the supervisor.
- Fold, press, package and distribute clean linen to the correct departments.
- Maintain cleanliness and safe working conditions in laundry areas and around equipment.
- Follow chemical handling, machine safety and linen storage procedures.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Laundry or housekeeping experience is useful; ability to operate equipment safely and handle linen according to care instructions.
- Ability to follow fabric-care labels and standard operating procedures.
- Awareness of equipment safety, cleanliness and safe chemical handling is important.
- Physical stamina and the ability to work as part of a team are beneficial.
