General Manager – Contracting / Construction

A major UAE conglomerate is seeking a General Manager to lead its growing contracting and construction business. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and working closely with the group's ownership, the role carries responsibility for the division's financial performance, order book, business development and project delivery. The portfolio includes a multi-project programme across residential, commercial and mixed-use developments, with a stated value of more than AED 500 million. The successful candidate will combine construction leadership, commercial capability and a strong understanding of project delivery in the GCC.

Key Responsibilities

• Take full responsibility for the division's profit and loss, revenue, margins and overall profitability.
• Lead delivery across a multi-project portfolio valued at more than AED 500 million.
• Drive tendering, new business development, order-book growth and strategic client relationships.
• Oversee project performance against programme, cost, quality, cash flow and health, safety and environment requirements.
• Manage commercial matters including FIDIC contracts, variations, claims and final accounts.
• Build and develop leadership, project management and delivery teams.
• Strengthen the division's MEP capability and its ability to deliver work directly.

Requirements and Qualifications

• More than 20 years of construction experience, including significant exposure to the GCC market.
• Previous experience with a main contractor is essential.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Demonstrated experience managing a multi-project portfolio valued at AED 500 million or more.
• Strong background in building, civil and/or infrastructure projects.
• Working knowledge of FIDIC contracts, variations and claims.
• Evidence of responsibility for P&L, tendering, subcontractors and site delivery.
