Head of Islamic Banking

A leading bank in Abu Dhabi is seeking a senior Islamic Banking leader to guide its retail Islamic product portfolio and support the next stage of business growth. The role will shape product strategy, strengthen the bank's market position and ensure that products remain commercially competitive while complying with Shari'ah principles. The successful candidate will combine extensive banking experience with a strong understanding of Islamic financial products, customer needs and market developments. The position carries responsibility for product performance, cross-functional delivery and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the Islamic Banking product strategy and ensure the product offering remains competitive and aligned with the bank's business objectives.
• Oversee retail banking products from initial concept and development through launch, management and ongoing performance review.
• Identify opportunities to expand the customer base, improve product penetration and strengthen portfolio profitability.
• Review product performance, pricing and market trends to identify areas for improvement and new commercial opportunities.
• Work closely with sales, marketing, operations and technology teams to introduce new products and enhance existing services.
• Ensure products comply with Shari'ah principles, applicable regulatory requirements and internal governance standards.
• Maintain relationships with senior stakeholders, Shari'ah advisers, regulators and external partners.
• Lead and develop the product team, set priorities and monitor delivery across the business.

Requirements and Experience

• At least 15 years of banking experience, including senior responsibility in Islamic Banking and product management.
• Strong knowledge of retail banking products; exposure to corporate banking is beneficial.
• A clear understanding of the Islamic Banking market in the UAE, ideally supported by international market exposure.
• Good knowledge of Shari'ah-compliant products and UAE banking regulations.
• A proven record of developing and launching products, managing portfolios and delivering commercial results.
• Understanding of risk management and Shari'ah governance, with strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.
