The role covers plant condition monitoring, inspection activities, data reporting and support for preventive and shutdown maintenance planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine and unscheduled equipment condition checks and collect reliable readings using handheld and permanently installed instrumentation.
  • Perform condition monitoring activities associated with rotating equipment, including overhauls, dismantling, clearance measurements, damage assessment, bearing clearance checks, axial float checks and shaft alignment during assembly.
  • Inspect newly procured and refurbished spare parts to confirm that they meet established standards and requirements.
  • Enter vibration and other condition-monitoring data into computerised systems and use the information for trend analysis.
  • Analyse vibration trends, patterns and observations to identify changes in equipment performance and mechanical behaviour and recommend proactive or corrective maintenance actions.
  • Prepare daily condition-monitoring reports covering equipment checked, analysis performed and proposed actions for engineers and area supervisors.
  • Support shutdown and preventive maintenance planning by providing technical input on faulty equipment and required improvements.
  • Perform routine calibration and operation of NDT equipment and follow applicable standards.
  • Apply safety, quality and environmental procedures and complete other related assignments as directed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or technical secondary education with a relevant mechanical trade certification.
  • Certification or training in condition monitoring such as vibration analysis, NDT or thermal imaging is preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years of condition monitoring or NDT experience in production-plant maintenance, such as alumina refining, oil or petrochemical operations.
  • Mechanical condition-monitoring experience covering vibration spectrum, thickness, ultrasound, oil analysis, visual inspection, wear and dimensional measurement.
  • Knowledge of online and offline condition-monitoring technologies and systems.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair rotating industrial equipment and use maintenance predictive software.
  • Good troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to read technical data books and use CMMS and MS Office.
