Division Multi Country Lead Counsel ELSP MEA and APAC

ABB is seeking an experienced legal leader to guide legal and integrity matters across the Electrification Smart Power division in the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific. The position partners closely with senior business leaders and legal specialists to provide practical advice, strengthen governance and manage complex commercial and regulatory risks across multiple jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high-performing multi-country legal team and promote a strong culture of integrity, accountability and collaboration.
• Advise business leadership on commercial, regulatory and strategic matters while aligning legal decisions with business objectives.
• Support complex matters involving mergers and acquisitions, cybersecurity, sustainability, human rights, trade compliance, litigation, intellectual property, antitrust, artificial intelligence and data privacy.
• Coordinate with specialist legal teams and global stakeholders on risk reviews, approvals and major business initiatives.
• Provide decisive guidance during sensitive issues, including disputes, investigations and crisis situations.
• Identify legal risks early and develop practical mitigation strategies that protect the business and support sustainable growth.
• Coach lawyers and build capability through feedback, development planning and effective performance management.
• Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external advisers across different legal systems.

Requirements

• Law degree and professional legal qualification where required.
• Approximately 10–15 years of post-qualification experience, ideally combining law-firm and in-house work.
• Demonstrated experience leading teams across multiple jurisdictions.
• Strong strategic thinking, commercial awareness, communication and conflict-resolution skills.
• Willingness to travel as business requirements demand.
