Senior Field Service Engineer

ABB is seeking a Senior Field Service Engineer in Abu Dhabi to deliver complex automation service activities for customers across energy and process industries. The role focuses on Distributed Control Systems and requires extensive hands-on experience with ABB platforms, field troubleshooting, commissioning and customer support. The engineer will also contribute to improving installed systems and identifying opportunities for further service support.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and execute medium- to high-complexity service activities according to technical instructions, safety requirements and customer expectations.
• Perform field troubleshooting, system analysis, maintenance and technical support for ABB automation systems.
• Work with DCS platforms including ABB 800xA with AC 800M, Symphony Plus and related control technologies.
• Diagnose complex technical problems remotely or at customer sites and provide practical recommendations.
• Prepare site activities for larger project teams and coordinate subcontractors where required.
• Coach technicians and engineers and supervise complex site work to maintain quality and safety.
• Collaborate with customers, contractors, suppliers, project managers and internal engineering teams.
• Identify system improvements and potential service opportunities within the installed base.
• Support customer retention by delivering reliable technical service and a professional customer experience.

Requirements

• Engineering degree with strong expertise in automation systems and process applications.
• More than eight years of relevant automation service experience, including substantial ABB DCS exposure.
• Hands-on experience with DCS systems in Power & Water and Oil & Gas environments.
• Strong knowledge of ABB 800xA, AC 800M and/or Symphony Plus.
• Understanding of industrial protocols such as Modbus, Profibus, OPC, IEC 101, IEC 104 and IEC 61850.
• Strong English communication and customer-facing skills.
