Description
The Global Manager – Automation RTG supports the development and implementation of rubber-tyred gantry crane automation across DP World terminals. The role helps define global standards while adapting solutions to the technical and operational needs of individual locations. It supports semi-automated, fully automated and driverless concepts and works with terminal teams, engineering groups and technology partners to evaluate solutions and resolve integration challenges. The manager analyses equipment performance, identifies opportunities to improve safety and productivity and supports proof-of-concept projects and wider deployment. Strong knowledge of crane control systems and industrial automation is central to the position.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and support the global strategy for RTG automation across semi-automated, fully automated and driverless solutions.
- Assist automation leadership with project delivery, proof-of-concept activities and the development of repeatable implementation standards.
- Coordinate with regions and terminals to tailor automation designs to operating conditions, equipment and local requirements.
- Evaluate technologies, review technical specifications and assess integration challenges across crane controls and terminal systems.
- Analyse RTG performance data to identify improvements in safety, energy use, equipment availability and operational efficiency.
- Contribute to process modelling, asset analysis and quick-win assessments involving PLC, HMI, CMS and crane control systems.
- Explore the use of robotics, AI and machine learning while considering system integration, reliability and IT security.
Requirements and Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Robotics, Automation or Mechatronics Engineering.
- At least eight years of relevant terminal or industrial automation experience.
- At least five years of PLC programming experience, including end-to-end system or product updates.
- Experience with project management, integrated systems and technical implementation in operational environments.
- Exposure to AI, machine learning, robotics or industrial IT security is valuable.
