Senior, Aquarist – Atlantis the Royal

The Senior Aquarist helps maintain the health of aquatic animals and the quality of aquarium exhibits at Atlantis The Royal. The role combines daily animal observation, husbandry, water-quality monitoring, feeding routines and maintenance coordination. The successful candidate should be attentive to animal welfare, consistent with records and procedures, and able to work collaboratively to maintain a safe, engaging and well-managed aquarium environment. Key Responsibilities

• Observe aquatic animals daily, identify changes in appearance or behaviour and report concerns promptly to the appropriate supervisor.
• Carry out feeding, husbandry and exhibit-care routines in line with established animal welfare and aquarium standards.
• Monitor water quality and help maintain the physical condition, cleanliness and operational readiness of exhibits.
• Maintain accurate animal records, work logs and routine reports to support care planning and review.
• Assist with routine and preventive maintenance of aquarium systems and associated equipment, escalating technical faults when needed.
• Work with colleagues to support safe animal handling, public-facing activities and a high-quality guest experience.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Relevant aquarist or aquarium husbandry experience is important; seniority requires sound practical knowledge and reliability.
• Knowledge of aquatic animal behaviour, feeding needs and water-quality practices is expected.
• Careful observation, accurate records and a strong commitment to animal welfare are essential.
• Candidates should follow safety procedures and communicate concerns clearly to team leaders.
• A biology, zoology, marine science or similar background is advantageous.
