Job Overview
Khalifa University is hiring an Animal Caretaker to support the welfare and daily care of animals housed in its research facility. The role ensures that animals receive appropriate food, water, housing, monitoring, and enrichment while maintaining accurate records and complying with approved procedures, animal-welfare standards, and laboratory safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide daily husbandry, feeding, watering, and routine care according to approved protocols and facility schedules.
- Maintain suitable housing conditions, environmental enrichment, and cleanliness to support animal welfare and health.
- Observe animals for changes in condition or behaviour and promptly report concerns to the appropriate team.
- Assist with safe animal transfers between housing areas, procedure rooms, and veterinary-care locations.
- Record feeding, health observations, enrichment activities, care tasks, and inventory information accurately.
- Follow institutional standard operating procedures and applicable animal-research and welfare requirements, including relevant accreditation standards.
- Coordinate with other facility teams, protect confidential information, and maintain a safe, orderly workplace.
Requirements and Qualifications
- A diploma or equivalent education is required.
- A minimum of three years of relevant experience is required.
- Knowledge of animal behaviour, husbandry, and basic veterinary-care principles is important.
- Previous experience in a research-animal or veterinary setting is preferred.
- Additional certification in laboratory animal science or a related field is an advantage.

- Accurate recordkeeping, hygiene, inventory awareness, and following written procedures.
