Description
This role supports the professional management of marine and freshwater life within a large luxury resort aquarium environment. The successful candidate will help maintain healthy animal habitats, coordinate daily husbandry activities, supervise aquarium routines and contribute to guest-facing educational experiences. The position combines technical aquarium knowledge with leadership, record keeping, safety awareness and service excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor animal health and behaviour, identify unusual conditions and communicate concerns promptly to the appropriate management and veterinary or specialist teams.
- Coordinate feeding schedules, dietary programs, quarantine procedures, disease recognition, treatment routines and animal transport or handling requirements.
- Oversee routine and preventive maintenance of aquarium exhibits, dive equipment and life-support systems, escalating faults and supporting effective troubleshooting.
- Maintain accurate animal records, water-quality results, maintenance logs and departmental documentation so that trends and operational issues can be identified early.
- Guide junior colleagues through safe husbandry practices, technical procedures and daily priorities while promoting teamwork, reliability and continuous learning.
- Support marine education, conservation and research-related activities and deliver engaging interactions for guests, community groups and external partners.
Requirements
- PADI Open Water certification or equivalent; Divemaster certification is desirable.
- Degree in Biology, Zoology, Marine Science or a related discipline, or equivalent aquarium experience and education.
- At least one year of supervisory experience with strong coaching and communication skills.
- Practical knowledge of animal identification, compatibility, behaviour, water analysis, quarantine and life-support systems.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office and maintaining professional written and verbal reports.
