The team leader protects aircraft airworthiness by ensuring that work follows approved maintenance data, quality procedures and applicable aviation requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Organise shift tasks, allocate technicians and tools, conduct briefings and handovers, and track progress against maintenance priorities.
  • Inspect and supervise repairs to fuselage, wings, control surfaces, panels, nacelles, cargo areas and other structural assemblies.
  • Coordinate metal fabrication, drilling, fitting, fastener installation and replacement of damaged aircraft structural components.
  • Guide approved composite repairs, including damage assessment, surface preparation, bonding, curing and core or laminate restoration.
  • Check work cards and maintenance records for accuracy, completeness and compliance with approved manuals and engineering instructions.

  • Coach technicians and apprentices, assess technical capability and identify training needs to strengthen team performance.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Relevant aircraft structures or maintenance qualification and recognised training in sheet-metal and composite repairs are expected.
  • Applicants should bring substantial hands-on repair experience; the advertised band is 5–7 years with qualifications, or 8–10 years where applicable without them.
  • At least three years of practical sheet-metal and composite-structure repair experience is specified for the role.
  • Working knowledge of AMOS and familiarity with approved aircraft maintenance documentation are required.
  • Current composite personal authorisation, Human Factors, Fuel Tank Safety and EWIS training are relevant role requirements.
