Project Director – School of Medicine

The American University in Dubai is recruiting a Project Director to support the establishment of its School of Medicine in collaboration with the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. This full-time role will coordinate the academic, clinical, regulatory and operational work to develop a US-style Doctor of Medicine programme meeting American and UAE accreditation standards. The director reports to the Associate Executive Vice President and works with leaders at both institutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the medical liaison between the university, its academic partner and stakeholders such as government bodies and clinical sites.
• Support curriculum development and coordinate academic planning with the partner institution.
• Develop role profiles for the School of Medicine leadership team.
• Prepare local and international accreditation materials with the project team.
• Assist with faculty training, academic support and recruitment for the new school.
• Coordinate academic and administrative requirements to support successful project delivery.
• Contribute to the school’s mission, vision, structure, budget and operating requirements.
• Support the school’s marketing and student-recruitment campaign.

Requirements and Qualifications

An MD, MBBS or MBChB degree and a postgraduate professional qualification, such as residency or fellowship, are required. Candidates should have deep knowledge of local and international accreditation processes and a comprehensive understanding of competency-based education. The ideal applicant will have substantial experience in academic medicine and medical education programme development, with the strategic and operational ability to help establish a new medical school.

Preferred Skills and Experience

Knowledge of UAE healthcare systems and accreditation requirements is preferred, as is experience launching a School of Medicine, clinical practice, Arabic-language ability and experience designing competency-based education. Strong project leadership, stakeholder coordination and collaboration are important.
