Production Manager

The production manager directs daily manufacturing activities to meet production plans, product-quality standards and safety requirements. The role manages people and resources, coordinates with maintenance and quality functions, and uses performance data to improve output, efficiency and reliability. This position is part of production operations and manufacturing performance and contributes to reliable, professional day-to-day delivery. The successful candidate will follow established procedures, maintain accurate information and work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve agreed standards.

Key Responsibilities

The main responsibilities include the following:

• Plan shifts, labour and production resources to achieve volume and schedule commitments.
• Monitor output, yield, waste, downtime and product-quality results, addressing deviations promptly.
• Ensure staff follow operating procedures, hygiene, safety and recordkeeping requirements.
• Coordinate with maintenance, quality, warehouse and planning teams to resolve constraints.
• Coach supervisors and operators and lead improvements to productivity, cost and consistency.

A practical understanding of the function, sound prioritisation and timely escalation will help protect quality, safety, cost and customer commitments.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Experience in manufacturing or food production management is relevant.
• A degree or diploma in production, engineering, food technology or a related discipline is preferred.
• Knowledge of production planning, quality controls, safety practices and performance reporting is beneficial.
• Candidates should demonstrate team leadership, problem solving and the ability to manage shift-based operations.

Candidates should show relevant experience, learn local procedures quickly and meet any required statutory or professional standards.
