Technical Service Specialist – (APC/Process Optimization Engineer)

ABB is seeking a Technical Service Specialist specializing in Advanced Process Control and plant optimization for its Automation Energy Industries business in Abu Dhabi. The position supports customers across the UAE, Kuwait and Pakistan and combines technical service delivery, optimization engineering, customer engagement and business development. The successful candidate will help customers improve plant performance, reduce energy consumption and achieve measurable operational value.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to APC and plant optimization projects from initial site surveys and benefit assessments through modelling, commissioning and value realization.
• Execute service projects at customer sites while coordinating closely with product specialists and project teams.
• Assess customer processes and identify opportunities to improve production performance, energy efficiency and emissions.
• Translate technical requirements into clear value propositions and practical optimization solutions.
• Provide specialist technical support and resolve service issues remotely or on site.
• Work with customers and sales teams to understand operational challenges and develop service-growth opportunities.
• Evaluate suitable service applications, equipment and methods for new or enhanced service offerings.
• Balance technical performance, customer value, delivery quality and local market requirements.
• Maintain safe working practices and follow established service processes and technical standards.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or an equivalent technical discipline.
• Experience implementing advanced process control and energy or process optimization projects.
• Knowledge of plant optimization solutions using APC and performance-optimization software.
• Industry exposure across Oil & Gas, Power or Water environments is highly relevant.
• Strong customer-facing communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Professional English communication skills and willingness to work in an onsite environment.
