Maternal & Fetal Medicine Physician

NMC Healthcare is recruiting a Maternal and Fetal Medicine Physician to provide specialist obstetric and gynaecological care across outpatient clinics, inpatient services and delivery settings. The position supports the assessment and management of complex and high-risk pregnancies, with careful monitoring, timely intervention and clear communication with patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide maternal and fetal medicine consultations, assess pregnancy-related concerns and develop appropriate care plans based on clinical findings and risk factors.
• Conduct and interpret ultrasound examinations and review fetal heart-rate monitoring, escalating or intervening when results indicate a clinical concern.
• Provide care in outpatient clinics, inpatient units, delivery rooms and emergency services as assigned, including responding promptly to consultation requests.
• Coordinate planned and urgent obstetric or gynaecological procedures within the approved scope of practice and established hospital protocols.
• Work collaboratively with obstetricians, midwives, nurses and other specialists to ensure coordinated care and timely communication during pregnancy and delivery.
• Explain clinical findings, treatment choices and changes in condition to patients and families, while maintaining accurate records and ethical standards.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Graduation from an approved medical school and completion of the required internship.
• Postgraduate Maternal and Fetal Medicine residency, master’s degree or equivalent fellowship accepted by the relevant UAE regulator.
• Five or more years of obstetrics and gynaecology practice after certification, as stated for the role.
• A valid DOH licence to practise in Maternal and Fetal Medicine and strong written and spoken English; medical Arabic is desirable.

Skills and Competencies

• Sound judgement in assessing maternal and fetal risk and deciding when further investigation or intervention is required.
• Confident ultrasound interpretation, fetal monitoring, clinical documentation and communication with multidisciplinary teams.
• Patient-centred conduct, medical ethics, calm decision-making and respect for confidentiality in sensitive clinical situations.
