Description
The role is responsible for shaping secure, scalable application architecture for enterprise e-commerce and digital business systems. It translates business needs into practical end-to-end designs across applications, cloud services, integrations, data flows, infrastructure and operations. The architect supports modernization and innovation while ensuring that solutions can be maintained, monitored and operated effectively as business needs grow.
Key Responsibilities
- Design application architectures across custom platforms, SaaS products, enterprise systems and cloud services, using modular, API-first patterns that support reliable digital retail experiences.
- Turn business requirements into solution designs, compare technology options, assess cost and technical risk, and guide engineering teams through implementation and production readiness.
- Identify suitable opportunities for AI, machine learning, generative AI and automation, integrating them with approved data, APIs, security controls and operating processes.
- Lead application modernization by reducing technical debt, simplifying duplicate platforms and planning practical transitions from legacy systems to target architecture.
- Coordinate with enterprise, data, integration, infrastructure, security and DevOps teams; document decisions, dependencies, diagrams, risks and architecture review materials.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bring 10 or more years of experience in application development, technical architecture, solution architecture or enterprise technology delivery, including at least five years in architecture-focused work.
- Demonstrate experience delivering large-scale e-commerce or enterprise applications and translating business needs into end-to-end technology designs.
- Have practical knowledge of a major cloud platform such as Azure, AWS or Google Cloud, as well as REST APIs, integration patterns and production support.
- Hands-on programming experience in a language such as Java or Python is expected; experience with SAP Commerce, Broadleaf or a comparable commerce platform is useful.
- Communicate clearly with business stakeholders and technical teams, make evidence-based decisions, and apply security, privacy, resilience and responsible-AI principles.
Skills
Useful strengths include system design, cloud architecture, cybersecurity by design, identity and access management, CI/CD, monitoring, cost assessment, architecture governance and clear technical documentation.
