Description
The Commis Chef assists with daily food preparation and kitchen service while developing practical culinary skills under the guidance of senior chefs. The position supports the assigned kitchen section by preparing ingredients, maintaining clean work areas and following recipes and instructions. It offers an opportunity to build a strong foundation in professional kitchen operations and the cuisine named in the job title.
Key Responsibilities
- Wash, peel, cut and portion ingredients as directed by the section chef.
- Prepare basic dishes, sauces and garnishes while following established recipes and instructions.
- Keep preparation areas, utensils and equipment clean, organised and ready for use.
- Store ingredients correctly, label products and follow stock rotation procedures.
- Assist with service preparation and complete assigned tasks within the required time.
- Follow food safety, hygiene, allergen and workplace safety procedures at all times.
