Lifeguard

The Lifeguard is responsible for helping maintain a safe swimming environment for hotel guests. The role monitors pool or beach activity, enforces safety rules and responds quickly to emergencies. Strong observation, fitness and current rescue skills are essential to protecting guests while providing a friendly and professional presence.

Key Responsibilities

• Observe swimming areas continuously and remain alert to changing conditions and guest behaviour.
• Explain and enforce pool or beach rules in a courteous and consistent manner.
• Respond to emergencies using approved rescue, first-aid and resuscitation procedures.
• Check safety equipment and report hazards, damaged facilities or unsafe conditions promptly.
• Maintain cleanliness and readiness around the assigned aquatic area.
• Complete routine safety checks and incident reports in line with procedures.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Current lifeguard and first-aid/resuscitation qualifications are important; prior pool or beach safety experience is useful.
• First-aid and CPR/resuscitation certification are required or strongly expected.
• Previous pool, beach or aquatic safety experience is beneficial.
• Strong swimming ability, alertness and a responsible approach are essential.

Skills and Personal Attributes

The position requires confidence in the water, sound judgement and the ability to act quickly. Calm communication, vigilance, physical fitness and consistent attention to safety are central to the role. Relevant working knowledge of the assigned department and the ability to follow established procedures will help the successful candidate contribute from the start.
