Description
Works with business and operational data to produce useful information for decision-making. The IT Analyst understands stakeholder questions, examines datasets, checks data quality and communicates results through reports or dashboards. The role helps teams identify patterns, monitor performance and investigate opportunities for process improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather information from systems and stakeholders to understand reporting needs and business questions.
- Clean, validate and analyse datasets, checking for missing values, inconsistencies and unusual trends.
- Prepare recurring and ad hoc reports, dashboards and visual summaries.
- Use suitable analytical methods and statistical techniques to identify patterns and relationships.
- Work with data owners and technical teams to improve data definitions, governance and reporting reliability.
- Explain findings and limitations clearly so users can make informed decisions.
- Support data-quality reviews and maintain documentation for datasets and reports.
Requirements and Qualifications
A qualification or practical background in IT, analytics, statistics, computer science or a related discipline is relevant. The role requires confidence with structured data, spreadsheets and reporting tools. Experience with databases, visualisation or statistical analysis is useful, alongside the ability to communicate findings to non-technical colleagues.
